Remove splash shield from below front of
engine. |
Drain engine oil, pull out oil dipstick. |
Remove the eighteen 10mm pan bolts |
 |
| Remove the 17mm nut securing gear to oil pump, slide gear off shaft and
remove. |
 |
| Unscrew the two 13mm bolts retaining the oil pump to the cylinder block. |
 |
| Remove oil pump and any shims located between pump and block. |
Check and service
|
| Turn drive shaft to check whether pump spins freely. |
| Clean pick up screen |
| Dismantle pump, check for scoring of body or wear on rotors. |
 |
| Dismantle and check relief valve located in the main bore,
this regulates engine oil pressure. Check to see if piston moves
easily, check length of spring, it should be 68mm (2.677"). |
| Check the 8 bar (114 psi) overload valve located in the bottom
of the pump. Remove the circlip, washer, spring and piston. Check piston for fit and free
movement. Check spring length, should be 44 ± 0.4mm (1.732 ± 0.016"). |
| Install piston, spring, washer and circlip. Press assembly
into pump by using a socket to spread the load, install circlip into slot. |
Installation
|
| Replace O ring on vacuum line, where it meets the pump
housing. |
| Check position of shim(s) between pump and cylinder block for
correct orientation |
| Tighten chain by increasing or decreasing base shim size until
chain has approximately 2mm of movement at the center point between the two gears, with
light finger pressure. |
| Tighten everything to correct torque. |
