Oil pump drive chain, replace. S14
Remove splash shield from below
front of engine. |
Drain engine oil. |
Remove the eighteen 10mm bolts from the lower
oil pan. |
 |
Remove pan. |
| Remove timing chain. |
|
| Remove nut from oil pump shaft and remove gear. |
 |
| Remove chain. |
|
Installation:
|
|
| Check gears for wear, replace if necessary. |
|
| Tighten chain by increasing or decreasing base shim size until chain has
approximately 2mm of movement at the center point between the two gears, with light finger
pressure. |
 |
| Genuine BMW chains with green marks are longer than chains with red marks. |
