Heater blower motor, remove and install

Remove negative cable from battery
Remove rubber seal from top edge of firewall in engine bay
Remove plastic cover from wiring at top of firewall.
Remove the four 7mm screws securing upper panel to firewall (one arrowed)

Pull panel up and away from firewall. Remove wire ties and connectors as required.

Pull open white plastic straps over blower motor cover, cut small plastic ties joining the upper and lower sections of the straps and rotate the strap halves 90° so they clear the blower cover. 640011.jpg (49013 bytes)
Lift off the cover by pulling free from the housing, lowering it into the firewall recess then pulling the top out and removing it completely.
Remove motor clamp by pressing down and prying lower end of clamp forward. Cut plastic cable tie securing wiring to clamp 640015.jpg (57731 bytes)
Remove the two wires from the motor. 640016.jpg (48479 bytes)
Lift out motor / fan assembly gently, take care not to break fins of fan or it becomes unusable. If necessary, remove clips from recirculation flaps and move top halves of flaps aside for more clearance. 640017.jpg (50327 bytes)

Installation:

Ensure replacement blower is of same manufacture as original, there are two different choices and these are not interchangeable.

Warning : Do not remove fan cages from motor. This assembly is balanced as a unit and will cause extreme noise if balance is destroyed by incorrectly positioning the cage on the shaft.  Also, replace the assembly if a cage is broken, as a missing blade will cause an imbalance.
