Remove thermostat. Removal may be easier if lower radiator hose is totally removed.
After installation of new thermostat, refill engine with coolant and run for 2 or 3 minutes with radiator cap off and heater turned to full hot, this will allow any trapped air to make its way out of the system.

Thermostat should begin to open at 80± 2° C (176± 3° F). Full opening of 8mm should occur at 95°C  (203° F).
