Replacing timing chain gear set

Remove lower timing cover
Remove timing chain
Remove oil pump drive chain.
Remove bolt from oil pipe located on left of crankshaft, remove pipe
Remove crank gear with BMW special tools 11 2 000 and 11 2 004, or a gear puller.
Remove 10mm nut from above shaft for upper guide gear on front left of head.  Use BMW special tools 11 3 040 and 11 3 062 or equivalent puller to remove shaft. Or alternatively, insert a 10x1.5 bolt and pull while rotating shaft with bolt.

Installation

If necessary, replace needle bearing in guide gear. Press out old bearing from the rear, and install the new one from the rear. Replace the gear itself if teeth show signs of wear, typically visible in the form of sharp teeth tips, rather than the blunt edges of a new gear.
Replace O ring on guide gear shaft, lubricate O ring,drive shaft partially in with bore facing up.   Slide the guide gear onto the shaft , drive the shaft all the way in against the stop. As O ring is entering cylinder head, rotate shaft to reduce chance of tearing O ring during installation.
Heat crank gear to a Max of 200° C for easy installation
Replace O rings on oil pipe.
