Master cylinder, remove and installRemove the metal pipe from the end of the master cylinder, located in the engine bay just below the steering column. Best accessed from the below the car. Remove brake fluid reservoir by pulling straight up. Disconnect rubber hose from side of reservoir. Pump clutch pedal several times to push fluid from feed hose out of open end of master cylinder. Touching brake pedal while the reservoir is removed from the master cylinder will introduce air into the brake system. Remove lower trim panel below the steering column and disconnect the actuating rod from the clutch pedal. 17 and 13mm wrenches are required for this. Remove the two 10mm bolts mounting the master cylinder to the bracket under the dash. Remove the master cylinder InstallationClean out brake fluid reservoir before installing. Take care not to strip threads in master cylinder when installing the metal pressure pipe. Pedal assistance spring must be properly located before connecting master cylinder actuating rod to the pedal. There is a small groove in the firewall, above the feed hose, where the spring sits. 17mm hex headed bolt that connects the pedal to the master cylinder actuating rod is eccentric, allowing fine adjustment of the clutch pedal position.
