Alternator, replacing brushes.It is an accepted practice to replace the complete voltage regulator rather than just the brushes, however, if brushes can be sourced, it is cheaper to replace them alone. Remove voltage regulator De-solder leads on the rear of carbon brushes, where they protrude from the rear of the housing Only use a small amount of solder when attaching new brushes to prevent from hardening the leads. Check slip rings that brushes run on for wear. If necessary, remove rotor and polish or replace slip rings. |
