Fuel tank, remove and install.

Remove rear seat cushion

Remove metal cover from right side on pre 1988 models, and both sides of car on post 1988 versions.

Remove hose clamps, and hoses, from fuel pump assembly and disconnect vapor lines in same location.

Remove wiring connector from in tank pump and fuel level senders.

Remove fuel from tank into an approved container by way of a pump with a hose lowered through the fuel filler neck.

Remove exhaust and heat shield.

Remove transfer pipe between tank halves.

Remove driveshaft.

Remove fill hose from right rear of tank.

Remove intake hose from primary fuel pump below and forward of left side of tank.

Remove fuel filter on models where it is located at fuel tank.

Remove stone guards from both sides, forward of fuel tank.

Support the fuel tank and remove the bolts from each side and the center.

Lower right side of tank first, removing vapor line while doing so.

Tilt tank down at front and remove.

Torques :

Fuel tank to body, 8mm bolts : 22 - 24 Nm (16 - 17 ft lbs.)
Fuel tank to body, 8mm nuts : 25 -28 Nm (18 - 20 ft lbs.)
Connecting pipe to tank : 25 ± 2 Nm (18 ± 1.4 ft lbs.)
Heat shield to fuel tank : 8 - 9 Nm (6.0 - 6.5 ft lbs.)
Fuel Sender to pump assembly : 1.8 - 2.0 Nm (1.3 - 1.4 ft lbs.)
Plastic nuts for trim : 2 Nm (1.4 ft lbs. )
Hose Clamps : 2 Nm (1.4 ft lbs. )
